    Emily Arwen Mott

Emily Arwen Mott grew up among musicians: pianists, violinists, singers, and string quartets in the living room. She sang and accompanied her sister's voice on the piano, then went on to study both piano and clarinet, as well as theory and composition. Throughout she enjoyed her part in orchestras, musicals, jazz and Latin bands. When it came time to choose a career, she found that her passion for teaching won out over performance. Now, while she continues to enjoy performance and study, teaching is the primary focus of her professional life.

A graduate of Swarthmore College and holder of a Massachusetts Elementary Education Certification, Emily brings a diverse array of professional experiences to her career as a music educator. She has taught in music and special education in the Lincoln, MA public schools, worked as a researcher on supported literacy projects for Education Development Center, and assisted on research and community development projects with indigenous people in the Bolivian Andes and tribal leaders in Kenya. Currently, in addition to her music teaching, Emily works as a certified equestrian rehabilitation therapy teacher for disabled children with the organization Friends for Tomorrow. Since 1997 she has been movement instructor, Staff Director and a member of the Board of Directors of the Noyes School of Rhythm School in Middletown, CT.
